So, I read on here once, that just before the decision to axe the Fiero, a new silver color was added. Someone else posted that records showed that only a scant few were produced (something like 20 cars), and 4 were t-tops. Has anyone ever seen one of these? Is this silver different from previous silver Fiero's? What's the paint number? It would be interesting to locate one of these! Kinda like finding a living dinasaur somewhere. Any witnesses? Maybe a VIN search? Just wondering.

Number produced - 1256
Paint Code - 16
Breakdown
Coupe - 738
Formula/Mera - 261
GT - 257

Silver was actually offered at the beginning of the model year and discontinued 11/30/87, the Bright Yellow was offered after 11/16/87

I have no info on how many T-top Silver Formulas were produced, but the records indicate that there were 299 T-top Formulas total.

A VIN search would not help, as neither the T-top or paint options are in the VIN.

The info above is from the Enthusiast's Guide to the Pontiac Fiero, v 2.0 - 2011

Same silver. I had a coupe and I seen a t-top formula turned into a 355 kit, then it was t-boned. Yes they are rare, but not so much.

Look for a sticker on the left wheel well (under the hood) and see if it says 16 anywhere.

i have an 88 GT that was originally silver. You would know, some PO repainted it the dark red/marroon color instead. It is a project and will likely end up silver again.

I have a silver 88 GT!
Will have to check and see if it has paint code 16 to confirm I have one of the (rare) 257 made?
I was looking for a low mileage yellow 88 GT as I understood they were the most rare color made.

The rarest of ALL fieros is the 1984 Medium Blue Metallic (paint code 25).

Pontiac had it listed as an available color, but never actually offered it to customers.

So.......

0 - Medium Blue Metallic - 1984 model year

Also, to answer OP ? as to the difference in the Silver colors, the 1984 and 1985 is listed as follows.

1984 - paint code 14 - Light Gray/Silver Metallic
1985 - paint code 14 - Light Gray Metallic
1986 - 1988 - paint code 16 - Bright Silver Metallic

Don't know if thety are actually the same color with different names and codes, or if they are visually different.

My understanding is that the 88 silver formula T-Top is the rarest fiero ever produced with only two produced. My yellow T-Top formula is one of only 37 I believe according to the T-Top registry and C&C records.

Any 88 is rare and well worth the restoration and care as long as it is not rusted out. Of course I'd save any fiero I could as there the most fun a poor man can have in automobile collecting!

I believe there is a thread somewhere in here that relates to the rarest of the rare according to the best available sources. I don't have time to check right now though.
