I'm doing a white face gauge kit as we speak, weather permitting. The kit I'm using is basically decals. Already did the aux gauges and they look great. However my alt gauge white face plate is off a tiny bit and it shows. When I do the dash gauges I think I may rig up a battary and hard wire the dash so I can get a better fit. It's really straight forward and I like the look. If you have a GT, I have some left over GT dash gauges you could mess around with for free, just pay the shipping.

Also might check out this site. Pretty cool free downloadable gauges there for FREE! All sorts of color combos there. The downloads need to be sized to fit the gauges, but there they are and free. I figured, maybe size them, email em to Staples and have them print on some decal paper might work. Haven't tried it yet tho...anyway pretty cool downloads there

LMK if you have any luck with the fieroshop downloadable gauges, I just started to monkey with it myself and am not the most puter savvy. Also LMK if you want these white face gauges I have left over.

One tip to both of you whatever you decide to do. The needles are a pain to realign if you remove them so don't take them off. The black caps on the center of the dials can be unsnapped and the gauge faces slid over the needles. You will have to glue the black caps back on to the needles but it will save you a lot of hassle later on.

The SpeedHut product shown above is called an overlay because it lays over the top of the old face...

Go to this link, on the right side of the home page is a tab labelled, Free downloads. Search under that tab for the color and style you want, download then edit the pic and size it to fit. Heres an example i was messing with, not sure if its even close to the right size tho

Oh yeah before I forget heres the link again.

One thing you need to understand with overlay gauges is that the "proper" ones that actually light up blue or whatever color the face is actually has current going though it - they're overlays, but you have to apply power to them. Simple decals aren't going to give you the true 'lit up' numbering and rectangles as they're just printed (unless you utilize a clear decal and somehow set everything but the actual face to not print color)

With standard overlays, when you attach the gauges with double-sided tape to the standard gauges, you then have to wire them to the main current box, and then wire that into something that is controlled by the lights. Most typically wire it to the gauge dimmer switch, since this is what is turned on when the headlights are operated.

Mine light up green or blue and can be adjusted with a switch.

like i stated above i already put leds behind the gauge cover plate i just dont want to remove the lighting from behind the gauges themselves all i need is white faces and a little light to show through the face itself instead of the plastic cover acting like a foggy gaze over the gauges because of the absense of the light behind the face if that makes any sense

Not a stupid question at all, took me awhile to figure it out as well. You just have to register there, nothing personal. I haven't gotten any spam from them, no junk mail. It's legit. Free. Simple...

Good luck and please LMK how you make out!

i peeled off the black faces and sanded the back red/orange light filter off and then sprayed a translucent blue on, very nice effect.

Been too busy with other stuff, Would love to see how you did your led's tho. Some pics of your install would really be great!

I'd love to see how they came out. I just did my aux gauges so far. Kinda nervous about messing with the speedo and what not. How was it to do?
