This is something you should let a machine shop do BUT !!
many engines have to have the cam bearing oil hole & crank hole line up
If you mark oil hole on bearing with a line made with permanent magic marker or a score mark you can center the hole much better, watch the line as you tap & watch as the line creeps in.

The GM 60 degree performance manual recommends installing the oil hole on the bearing at about the 4:30 clock position. The oil feed hole from the block is at 6 o'clock position. Only the #1 bearing, which has 2 holes, has one hole at 6 and one hole at 4:30.

I installed mine using a SBC cam bearing removal/installation tool. I also used 4 SBC bearings from a 5.7L V8 because they are wider than the stock V6 bearings. You only have to mod the #1 bearing to add a 2nd oil feed hole.

If you have never installed cam bearings, take it to the machine shop.

Moving a block around is a pain,so many will do this, this is general information for all engines,,there are some, even with out experience who will
attemp cam bearing install, they will break out the ol ladies witch broom handle
..when you can see the black mark,or score mark it makes install easier to get proper alignment....Draw line centered on hole of course
THIS WILL EASE INSTALL FOR EXPERIENCED..help prevent big mistake, this works..

....TRY IT !!
