First, thanks for the help guys. I am in the process of taking off the front suspension to cut and lengthen the a-arms 2 1/4" per side. I thought while I was in there that I would redo all the suspension bushings AND add power steering.

Tonight, I took off the steering rack and the sway bar. Tomorrow I will go find a 87-89 dakota rack to throw in there and reinstall it and the sway bar with new bushings.
Gutting the front to make room for trunk space. Moving radiators, etc to engine compartment.

Good bye rack. I will probably reuse the sway bar, or put it on the rear and get a stronger one for the front. Ideas are welcome.

Though I seem to recall many (myself included) advising you not to simply cut and reweld your own a-arms. Or do you have a better plan not mentioned yet?

I should re-word that. I am using 1 1/8" sch 40 steel for the a-arms. I was going to re-use the ends. Here is an example:
