I am in the process of transplanting a 2.8 V6 from my rotted out manual '85 SE into a decent '84 with a 2.5 automatic. I have all the wiring harnesses from the '85 but I am not sure the Manual ECM from the '85 will control the TCC function for the automatic. The Fiero Store does not list different part numbers for manual vs automatic cars. Does anyone know if this will work? I am also missing the bracket from the transaxle output shaft housing to the engine; does anyone have an opinion on leaving it off? I know it sounds silly to use this engine instead of something bigger and better, but my funds will not allow anything more interesting at his time. I have saved the '85 Manual transaxle and engine cradle for future upgrades when times get better.

Not an ECM issue... PROM inside of ECM.
Same ECM pin controls shift light or TCC.
Need a auto trans PROM for 85 V6 and wiring to control TC lockup.

see also http://www.fieronews.net/fusion/downloads.php
download 84 wiring and 86 service manual.

You need an 85-88 2.8 Automatic engine harness. The MT engine harness won't work for your application - unless it is modified.

Thank you for your help, I wasn't sure about the ECM since the Fiero Store does not differentiate between Man and Auto. I assume I will need the V-6 TV cable and maybe a few more small parts. If all else fails, I have all the manual trans parts.

You will also need the 2.8 flexplate.
