So i recently saw a thread about how the newer remaned v6 distributors now have a different setup inside as far as the magnet goes, i have an 87 gt with some surging issues in the lower rpms, do the magnets make that much of a difference in the ignition process? i have installed a new pick up coil and module recently, and the tines are a bit rusty but not terrible, could this cause weak spark or anything like that? im searching for an answer to this, it drives me nuts to not have the acceleration on demand.
check all of your grounds, the 2.8 really likes to be very grounded so to speak. i have two more grounds on mine and the rpms at idle don't move much. if it when you are pushing the gas could be the throttle position sensor going bad. there is a way to test it just search on the forum for it. from what i hear the rust doesn't effect the spark at all.
