I was looking into Koni Yellows for a couple of my cars. My Honda mechanic told me they ALWAYS leak and have to be shipped back to Koni to have them fixed under warranty. He told me to go with a different brand because of this. I guess they have a good warranty but if you have to take them off, send them in and wait for them to come back, it could be a huge PITA. Just passing what he said on, I don't have any experience with them myself.

Koni warranty only applies to the original purchaser, with receipt. You can send them back to Koni to be rebuilt, from what I've found, it's about $100 per strut, which isn't THAT bad.

These look to be almost brand new but the car has sat garaged for some time...What is the purpose of the little knob looking piece on top? It is leaking from that area..

It adjusts how stiff the strut is. Clockwise = softer, counter-clockwise = firmer

Front shocks are adjusted in the opposite direction, and must be removed from the car to be adjusted

I've got a car that I bought used with Konis already on it. From what I was told, the Konis were put on two owners ago.

I'm out of luck for a warranty repair without a reciept?

It appears so. It specifically says here that you must have proof of purchase. Kind of sucks. Maybe if you called them and said you lost the receipt...? I'm sure people try that with them regularly though.

Yeah, I figured that was the case.

I'm sure they've heard every variety of the "I lost the receipt" sob story.
