Hi all,

After doing $RICH$'s ground strap mod I wanted to add a few more!

I also noticed Smoother Idling, and about 2MPG better gas millage.

I tried doing what Paul said last night and came up unsucessful! My problem is 1, I dont know how to connect the strap from the chassis to the battery and 2, I cant get that damn plenum bolt off for the life of me! Any suggestions?

Thanks
Tony

If you have not done so, buy a black battery cable from your local auto parts store. They sell replacements in all lengths. You then simple use one of the major bolts from the engine block such as the alternator bracket or dogbone bracket on the engine side. Run the other end of the cable to the battery box area and use one of the battery tray bolts to ground it.

For the intake plenum bolt, you need to use a 10mm "12-side" socket or box end wrench. I usually use a socket. You can't use a standard six-wall because it won't be able to grip all the "star" ends on the bolt.

For the strap, you might want to change out the terminal. I have multiple wires going into my terminals and changed them out for the generic side mounts. The reason why I did this is because they have two bolts that hold a bridge that "sandwiches" the main battery wire to the terminal. You can then attach ground straps or whatever to the terminal. That's how I setup my ground strap setup how $Rich$ described, and with it's extra provisions you should be able to add more.

If you go to your local Autozone or NAPA you'll see what I'm talking about in the battery terminal section. It looks something like this.

Setup works great on my car. I attached everything and then sealed it all up.

Glad it worked.

Did you see a considerable difference after adding the new grounds?
