As I have said in a couple other posts, I have purchased a Series I long block fully rebuild and d Series II Long block still in need of freshening but low kms so worth doing. I don't know much about these engines as I have been concentrating on the 3.4 DOHC and other 60* engines for the past several years.

I bought a lower intake for the Series II for the S/C but in my investigation, I have come to a potential issue with my Supercharger. The package came with an M60 S/C that I thought I could put on to the Series II with no issues.

I am not so sure I can do that any more. I have been scouring the net looking for info on this combo and I always find the M60 only with the Series I motor. Can I put the M60 on the Series II motor or am I now looking for an M90 S/C? I also have a 6 Webber intake setup for the Series I so if teh Series II is gwting too complicated I may just go with the Series I Webber setup I have.

Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated please.

Thanks
Don

I believe that you have an M67 supercharger that is compatible with the series 1 engines. This will not fit on the series II L67 engines. Even if you could adapt it you would not make much horsepower.

this sounds very difficult.
the lower intakes have different bolt patterns.
the superchargers have different bolt patterns.
the length of the snouts is also different.

then i have to ask why?
the m90 is a much better sized blower for the 3800. it is cheap around here and on ebay.
if you are after more than stock hp, the series II engine is stronger, and the head ports breath better (they are symetrical).

i veiw 3800 swaps in four levels:

205hp series 1. - i got it for nearly free, and it is a LOT better than my 2.5/2.8. some work for sure.

240hp series 2. - stock, plentiful and dependable. also some work.

350hp series 2. - modified. blower puleys, rockers, cam, exhaust, intercooler, porting. take your pick or all. more work and tuning.

500hp series 2. - reconfigured to turbo with all or some of the other modifications as well. more work and tuning

The M60 blower fits the series 1, the M90 fits the series 2. They are not interchangable.

You could put the M60 you have onto the series 1 that you have.

Thanks for the replies folks. I kind of figured the m60 was not going to work.

Can I put the s/c on the series I though? I was reading that the n/a has different internals than the s/c and a different balance. If I can go for the series I with an s/c, that works for me as I am not looking for huge power just better than the stock 2.8.

Any feedback on the s/c on the series I would also be appreciated.

Thanks again for the feedback so far.

This guy did a lot of documentation on the series 1.

Edit: It looks like a lot of his links are broken/missing.

You can use a SC on a NA block but the engineers didnt so should you? Yes it will work but I wouldnt trust it for long. I would say if you were looking for up to 300 crank hp then get a SC for the series 2 ( if it is a SC block) and if you are going to be looking for more, then go turbo. Sell everything that you will not be using to start buying the parts for the series 2.

You also have the 3800SC gen III at 260HP. Its not easy getting much over 400 HP with the M90 Eaton and at that you will need the gen V unit. If you are looking for "bonsai" power get a turbo now .

Yeah I am no longer into the huge horsepower. I appreciate all the feedback and found an M90 for the Series II out in Ontario so bought it and getting it shipped tomorrow.

The Series I long block is still for sale and getting all the parts I need for the Series II normal build. 240 hp is good enough for me. Getting old and all..... ;o)

Thanks much
