While working on the steering column I disconnected the battery. Now that I am finished and have it back together I am having a bad stumble at low rpm when the engine is below operating temp. Did not have it prior to this. At first I figured that the ECM just needed to re-learn things but I have now put over 50 miles on the car and it is still there. I notice it when stepping on the gas from a full stop. It is almost as if it is about to die then with a bit more gas it catches and goes. Once up to operating temp the issue goes away. Any thought from the experts?

NONE of the control wires for the ECM run through the steering column.

The only thing that might have made a difference is that you reset the ECM. That however wouldn't have caused this problem.

Check your CTS and your MAT sensors

Also check your fuel pressure.

Sensors appear to be reading good ohm differentials. No codes lighting up.

I haven't seen it on our cars happening before but on newer vehicle when you disconnect the battery the idle will surge up and down due to the fact that there is carbon build up in the throttle body and throws the tps off. After cleaning the carbon build up it the throttle body the butterfly plate closes tps is happy and no more surging.

I have seen this very thing happen on my 88 GT. A good throttle body cleaning can work wonders on the quality of the idle.

I agree, check all of your sensors, and don't forget the MAT sensor on the air filter canister. Also, you don't happen to have aftermarket headers on it? If you did, you may need to go to a heated o2 sensor. The now cooler exhaust temps are making the o2 sensor take longer to reach operation temp. BTW: It's no biggie to do.

Nope stock headers.
