Need information on two center underdash connectors off a main wire harness sourcing the middle dash section.

One larger wire branch has heater and radio connectors.

One smaller wire branch has two connectors, a Black 6 wire (wide) connector (greasy), and a Clear 6 wire (wide) connector.

The Black connector has only three (3) wires: black, yellow and gray.

The Clear connector has only five (5) wires: black, tan, light blue, purple and red.

Can anyone tell me what these two connectors are for and connected to?

Thanks for the help on this one.

The wires for those connectors originate at the AC control head, and end with the two connectors you mentioned. The connectors are supposed to attach to the two door actuators in the Heater/AC plenum:

The black connector with 3 wires connects to the Recirculating Door Activator (switches plenum door to either outside air or recirc); and

The clear connector with 5 wires connects to Mode Door Actuator (switches plenum doors to either defrost, heat, AC outlet).

OK, great! That makes sense. I removed the Heater - A/C box, and most of dash and interior, from one '87 GT parts car, and placed it into an '85 3800 N/A car. It was over several weeks time between removal and my current install.

I was able to locate these connector plug-ins under the dash of my other stock '87 GT 5-speed.

Thanks again for the tip!
