I'm sure some folks are using HP tuners out there, so here is a question. My new friend Chris bout his and received his 8 credits, he redeemed these to be able to tune any 2000 GTP. He has also had success tuning a 2000 GT ECM, and 3800 na. What PCM will I need to purchase in order for him to tune mine. Does it need to be from a 2000 or has anyone had luck tuning with a different year. I am basically wondering if this software goes by VIN number or model number of PCM. Any help would be great. Also, are there any differences in a 2000 GTP harness vs any other L67? Are all the connectors for sensors the same?

Different engine harnesses have different body connectors located in different positions.
The connectors for the engine are the same however.
3800 NA harnesses are basically the same as 3800 SC harnesses with the exception of the addition BBV and the presence of, or presence of a different MAP sensor.
Remember your MAP sensor needs to be a 2 bar map sensor (white or orange weatherpack connector). A 1 bar map sensor (green if weather pack) is keyed differently and won't plug into the 2 bar sensor.
If your donor harness has the manifold mounted MAP sensor connector (Gray) you can splice on a 2 bar sensor connector.
HP tuners can tune 97 an up PCM's. If he purchased a blanket license for all 2000 gpt's, then you would need to make sure your pcm came from a 2000 gtp or he would have to use more credits to be able to tune your pcm. I think it is 2 credits or about $100.

That makes perfect sense to me. I also believe that I have answered my own question in regards to what ECM I need. According to HP tuners website, it seems as though it is definitely year and model specific, so I will have to try to pull the equipment from a specific year and model.

Well just the PCM has to be from that year and model.
Do you really need a VIN# to input into HP tuner? I am ready to buy the software but all I know is my PCM is from a 2003 GP GTP. Do I need to find a VIN#? Don't want to buy a s/w and then get the surprise I can't use it to tune/scan. Thanks

go on the HP tuners website and click on the list of supported vehicles .if your ECM is from a car on that list you are good to go .if not , dont waste your money .there are a surprising # of GM vehicles with the same engines but different models (eg saturn vs chev) that use different ecm's and are not supported .sometimes same models with manual trannys are supported but autos are not .check before you buy .

This is what it says. Does it needs to specify being a supercharged GTP?
