we have a customer with a kit car in shop that has a northstar installed and we have gotten it running but the wiring is kind of hacked up. it is installed with an auto trans from the same car. but the problem we are having with it is we need the pinout for it as well as the wiring for the gages. we are installing VDO's
any help would be great. I have looked and no one realy covers the wiring. I am not a big fan of this swap so we do not do them like the others.
thanks, D.

I'm jumping the gun here, but in case you need the '96-'97 harness diagram, here it is:

I would imagine you would need to swap to 3 pin connectors for both the CTS and the oil pressure sender to get a gauge sender.

I would imagine that the Northstar's gauges were in the original installation were all handled by the the PCM/BCM.

Just a comment on the guages............

All of the Cadillacs that I have owned or driven with the N* do not have guages, the Driver Information Center is an alphanumeric display that tells you if there is a parameter that is out of range. It does display values for volts and water temp when on the page for that individual parameter.

I would approach the water temp, oil pressure, voltage like you would with a 3800, 3 pin coolant sensor, 88 oil pressure sender and standard hookup for the Fiero voltage guage.

Hey Whodeanie. I as well as others I'm sure would appreciate you putting a diagram on here of how you wired up the rest of your northstar. I have just finished welding up my engine mounts and will be tackleing the wires next. So far I havent found anybody who was put this on the sight but I'm still looking. Thanks

OBDI? OBDII? Y2K+?

I swapped over to an Aurora oil pressure sender and a 3 wire CTS from a later Corvette/Truck for the oil pressure and water temp gauges. The Fiero temperature light needs its own switch. Tach comes from the coil pack. If you have the VSS wired correctly, the speedometer signal comes from the ECM but needs the Quad 4 translator circuitto communicate with the Fiero speedometer.

That's for the stock gauges. What you need to do for VDO gauges depends on what kind of signals they need.
