This isn't an issue with Fieros as even V8 versiosn stand up well.
I assure you you'd get tired of the noisy whine pretty quick on the street. I have used these on the track, and that is where they should stay. |

The Dog Engagement is what I mainly want, and I understand they are significantly louder than helical cut gears. The prices I have seen for a dog engagement transmission are really really high. I am going to convert my current Fiero for SCCA GT Racing, once I read the rules some more, but I don't want to spend $10,000 on just a transmission. Since I have a Getrag I wouldnt mind increasing its strength with the spur cut gears. The strength increases with spur cut but its side-effect is definately the noise. So loud and obnoxious that in normal cruising applications it would be so droning you couldnt drive the car very long.
But anyway, thanks for the info guys! I'll have to PM Toddster about them, and about price. I am weighing options mainly, as I usually do. I have too many ideas, too little money :P.
EDIT: There are also Helical Cut Dog-boxes, that use helical cut gears with dog engagement.
To those who don't know what dog engagement is...
