Like the others have said, preparation is key.
Also, when you're initially cleaning the tank for prep, you need to put "something" in the tank to mechanically knock off the rust. A small link chain always worked best for me. That inside's really got to be clean, with nothing loose. There are some good write-ups on what chemicals to use if your kit doesn't tell you.
Also, when you go to do the Kreem coating, you need to be ready to roll it around the inside of the tank right away. It can set up "globs" inside if you're not quick. Be ready to rock and roll (literally) once you pour the Kreem.
I did my first 85 Fiero tank, and it was rough. No problems since. I also did my son's 84 Fiero recently and it came out really nice. The old time motorcycle guys use it religiously when they build custom tanks. They don't leak!
