I've got a tire dealer down the road from me here that says they are extremely hard to find and I call up an old coworker who works at a tire shop now and he said, I've got 13 in stock, 75 bucks mounted and balanced. Too bad your in texas...
14 inch tires are getting harder to find, would be a good time to find some 15 inch rims. I used some Grand am rims on my 84 without any issues. There are no new cars that use 14 inch tires, if you do find some you need to check the date and make sure they are not going to fall apart on you.

Thank you,, everyone. I finally [i]may[/] have found a pair of "Riken Raptors" to put on. (Apparently a Michelin second label, but not one I can highly recommend). Anyway, found a dealer in the area today who found one of his sources that said that there are 16 of them in the Houston area. Tomorrow, I may have two.
She was already running on a set of four "Raptors," (all I could find last year in this size, and she really needed new tires). I've gone from the original Eagles, through the Firestone Firehawks (as tires in this size started to disappear) (actually better wet road traction than the Eagles, but not nearly as good on dry pavement), and now to the Raptors (which are ok, but not great on any road condition). At least maybe she'll be roadable, again, but I miss having the traction that should be there.
(By the way, don't know what I hit, but the left rear has about a two-inch gash in the outer rim. This for a tire less than a year old. I've driven on Eagles with nails in them that you never knew were there, until the tread wear at long last pushed the nail through the belts, or unless you caught it before while checking the tires. I really wish Goodyear hadn't abandoned us.)
And yes, I know I need to go to a larger rim diameter, but I priced out new rims + new tires (nothing fancy, just functional), and decided that I could not look my wife in the eye and tell her that we needed to throw between $800-1000 at the car, right now.
Thanks, 2farnorth, for the speedometer mention, it works out to 7%, and is one of the reasons I was reluctant to make that particular size change. If I have to, I will, and it is nice to know (from Nazareth) that there aren't any "chafing" issues with that tire size.
Appreciate the help, guys. With luck, the tires don't turn into "phantom" stock.

If you do decide to buy new wheels for the car, I would suggest a jump up to 16", as the 15" sizes are spotty for good 'H' or higher rated tires.
Just a note, out of need we actually installed a set of 225/75R14's on an 86 coupe - gave it the AWD off road look - but they only rub a tad on the front with the wheel at full lock. Talk about filling up the wheel well!

Thanks, I had been looking at 16's, for just that reason.
Update, four days later than I had hoped, but the tires did actually arrive. Threw the dead tire+rim in the truck, made the forty-mile drive to the one tire store in all of Houston that managed to locate the 215/60R14 "Raptors" (ye gods, what a misnomer)(they're ok, as basic tires, but all I've been doing since Goodyear left us is downgrading in grip & feel), picked up the two tires, got them to the shop I use, and 10 minutes later had at least one mounted and balanced. Took it home, got it on the car, and pulled the opposite wheel to take to the shop to get the other one done. Sounds strange, but doing it this way saved me the agony of having to drive any further on that squirrelly undersized spare. (and yes, if I had planned ahead, I would have had both pulled & the car on jackstands, but until today, I was not even sure I would actually see the tires, so why bother?) Tomorrow morning, #2 gets dropped off for mount & balance, and by tomorrow night, she's at least going to be roadable, again.
When I pulled the right rear tonight, I was surprised by how uneven the wear was around the rim (in some places, the tread was far closer to the wear indicators than I would have expected for less than one-year-old tires. Now, I may have "flat-spotted" them once, courtesy of an imbecile who decided to park her vehicle across the road in front of me (apparently her need to get to McDonald's outweighed every rule of the road ever contemplated by mankind), but the overall wear was still more than I expected to see.
My first Fiero (an '84 SE)(new, at the time) chewed up Eagles at an appalling rate. What were supposed to be 40,000 mile tires were gone at 20,000 (and no, I'm not that aggressive a driver). But at least, when they were new, they were fun to drive on. You could feel the road. Now I'm skating on new tires, and I'm still stuck with tires that die early.
Sorry for the rant. I'm just frustrated by reality. She'll either be up for sale, soon, or I'm ultimately going to bite the bullet & go to '16's', along with the other things she (& I) need. Manual transmission conversion would be nice . We'll see.
But in the meantime, thank you, each of you, for your input.
I agree with your frustration. I've never had the Goodyear tires but wondered how good they were. I got my 84SE in 1996, and the tires I put on it back then were Hoosiers. I liked those, but eventually Hoosier got out of the consumer tire business altogether and I had to switch to BFGoodrich. I think those are okay though, and they are still available but they have to be ordered usually. I noticed that the BFG I bought most recently was made in Mexico, while my older ones were from the US. I've seen those "Raptor" tires around a few times lately, including on a Fiero I saw at a dealer. I guess they've found a niche size to sell. I haven't seen any glowing reviews of them though. I'm amazed to hear that no new cars come with 14" tires anymore. The world has gone crazy. Anyway, I think some sort of 14" will be available for quite a while still, lots of 90s cars came with them and they're still on the road in decent numbers. I think P195/70R14 is pretty common, but an annoying downgrade to be pushed into.

Shyster, the uneven wear on your rear tire may be due to a bad strut.
As to the "feel" of the tires on a Fiero, "S" and "T" speed rated tires have a soft, mushy feel when turning into a corner.
I always run at least an "H" rated tire due to the stiffer side-wall construction - it makes a huge difference in the "feel" of the car.
I have had very good results with Cooper Cobra, Road Hugger GT, and the Falken ZIEX ZE 512. My absolute favorite tire on a Fiero was the Firestone Firehawk SH30, but they have been out of production for quit some time.
