Can you launch the Fiero in second gear, if you have a strrong enough clutch, with the 3800sc?

Just curious.

Anyone try?

I don't know about the 3800 but I can take off in my V8 in second gear. I have jumped on it a couple of times when I was afraid I couldn't make the 1-2 shift and keep up.
But I don't do it very often.

The low end grunt and lower red line eats up first gear, taking off in second gives you a little more time before you have to shift but you will sacrifice some speed off the line for it.

It would help if you get lots of wheelspin off the line. Ive done it for years starting out on ice and packed snow...even with automatics.

I have not got my new clutch yet, but I thinking ahead if I hit the track again.

Second gear launch, I know some guys at the track do this, would be good and I think the 3800sc can do it.

Would not dare do it now because of the clutch.

Sounds like a good way to get a lot of heat in the clutch and glaze it.

The heat that keeps you from finishing that LS4.

Then finish those 3 other cars in your shop before I bring my car back for the turbo install.

My goal is to run 11's supercharged and then drop that another second when YOU turbocharge it.

Yeah was 140* in the shop the other day...I did get the insualtion cut for the engine bay and plan on putting front wheels on the car so I can move it for the engine install. Picked up a head gasket job on a local 88 Duke for Sunday so gotta knock that out and then move onto the other cars.....
