I don't know about the 3800 but I can take off in my V8 in second gear. I have jumped on it a couple of times when I was afraid I couldn't make the 1-2 shift and keep up. But I don't do it very often.
The low end grunt and lower red line eats up first gear, taking off in second gives you a little more time before you have to shift but you will sacrifice some speed off the line for it.

Then finish those 3 other cars in your shop before I bring my car back for the turbo install.
My goal is to run 11's supercharged and then drop that another second when YOU turbocharge it.
Yeah was 140* in the shop the other day...I did get the insualtion cut for the engine bay and plan on putting front wheels on the car so I can move it for the engine install. Picked up a head gasket job on a local 88 Duke for Sunday so gotta knock that out and then move onto the other cars.....
