How do I adjust the decklid (engine cover) on the Fiero. Mine sits slighty high in relation to the rear fenders. It is not the adjustable bumpers. I have adjusted them til they make no contact and the lid is still high. Are there adjustments in the latch/ latch hook, and where the hinges mount? Thanks for any tips!

If your alignment is good front to rear & side to side, all you need to do is adjust the latch to pull the decklid down further. You can remove the catch from the car & adjust the bumpers, then replace the catch & adjust the latch (the catch may be adjustable too; I don't recall offhand) so that it pulls down against the bumpers.

I will remove the trunk carpeting to get to the catch and see what kind of adjustment is there. There does not seem to be much adjustment at where the latch release bolts to the decklid.

I forgot which one , the "D" striker or the trunk lock will move up or down to lower the trunk heigth. If it is to high the trunk can , and often times do leak.

We have had some rain but I have not seen any leaks so far. I am going to do the adjustment tomorrow and see how much it changes. I have also been told if I adjust the hinge mounts by the window up, the decklid will come down at the back edge.........

The latch on the lid is adjustable....the metal on the car itself is not. It's spot welded in place and I wouldn't recommend moving that at all. That metal catch on the car could have been distorted at some point in the past if someone used that to lift the car with an engine hoist for a cradle drop. If there is no distortion then the latch should handle any adjustment needed. If there is distortion then the catch needs to be bent or ' massaged ' back into position. Adjusting at the hinge area should not be necessary at all and will give you very little movement at the rear edge but change the position with the rear vents and the rear clip at the sides.

After removing the decklid, I reinstalled and adjusted it by loosely installing all the decklid bolts while the side grills are still removed. Then, gently close the decklid, checking the decklid alignment closely the whole time. Check the edge gaps and the decklid height above the taillights after latching the decklid. Now push down on the decklid at the hinges to get the decklid height correct at the front and tighten the hinge bolts when aligned. Replace the grills and your good to go.
