Have an 84 2.5L

Was driving on the highway when I lost power and engine died. It's not throwing any codes but I have been able to determine with help of other forum members that it's probably my timing gear that has gone.

There's no spark, no fuel and when looking in the crank case will turning it over, the lifters are not moving.
(here is the previous post https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/116605.html )

My question is, given I was travelling at 100km/hr when it died, could anything else have been damaged?

Everything else should be okay, the engines are non-interference so you don't get that self-destruction the imports tend to do.

The nylon cam, gear is stripped, nothing else probably went wrong. Get the Melling gear set, it's only a few bucks more and it has a new steel crank gear and an aluminum timing gear. Also get a new seal for the balancer. You can change the gear without pulling the camshaft or removing the engine, you have to partially drop the cradle, do a search, there are a few good threads on the procedure to do this.
