I doubt that any other jack is the same. How many do you want? I have several of them, both the early and late styles.

The early 84's had what is commonly called the "Tripod Jack." It had a triangular looking foot and was quite an inferior and dangerous design. Sometimes they even collapsed if the car moved slightly when raised. I don't know for sure when they changed to the more common jack used from mid 84 to 88, but my early serial # cars all have the later jack, so it must have changed fairly early in the 84 production run.

I'm not sure what it is about Canadian auto recyclers, but for some reason they remove the jacks. I've tried looking several times for a later style Fiero jack for my 308 kit (based on an early '84) with no luck either. There must be a jack-heaven where they all go to.

I've "used up" a few of them. I cut the little floppy handle off and use a 3/4" socket and an air ratchet to run cars up and down in a hurry. Put lots of grease on the screw to prolong its life. I've stripped a few anyway as they are not designed for frequent full travel use like I do to them.

The Indy's were the first ones to get the new design, they by 85 they all had them. My car, 24,421 is a December '83 build, and has the earlier style.

My Grand Prix has a simular one (check any GM cars). But I prefer the late model Camaro and Trans am (about 84 to 86).I can Jack up a car in under 20 seconds with that (its a pump type jack).

I had a faint memory of the Indy release being the intro point for the later jack, but these days, most of my memories are faint. If someone can give us the VIN of the first production Indy, we could see if any members have an 84 with the later jack but an earlier VIN than the first Indy. Of course you have to have the provenance to go with the car that proves the jack didn't get swapped out.

Hdryder, this is your thread so you should take up on that offer from njcwgrl... they're getting hard to find... jacks, that is, not cowgirls

As for when they changed styles, my 308 kit was number 6,212 off the line, more than just a little earlier than RWDPLZ's, so I can't help.

The first two issues of the P & I catalog are dated 9/83 and 1/84. They both show the jack stowage hardware, but no jack at all!!!!!The 3rd issue of the Parts & Illustration Catalog is dated 5/84 and it shows both jacks. The early one is p/n 10021488 and the later and best one is p/n 10030932. The early jack usage description specifies (Except Y82) which is the Indy identifier, while the later jack calls out Y82 and 1985 "P" There is still no good way to say exactly when the change was made without seeing the Fiero Build Record.
