The FieroStore has one for an '84, I can't speak as to the similarity of that one to other years but seeing as all '84s were 4cyl's it might work... I'm sure someone else will know more about what will work with what year.
84 auto 84 man 85-6 auto 85-6 man 87 and maybe 88 auto 87 and maybe 88 man I don't know 87 and 88 are same

I didn't know they were all different during the years. All I know it's a 2.5L automatic. The car is an '85 SE and it was originally a 2.8 but the engine was swapped for the duke before i bought it. And I have no idea what year is the engine because all the plates and places where the engine number should be are not present. Is there any other way to tell the year of the engine?
Easiest way would be to look at the distribuor and ignition coil, 85 and 86 engines had the same coil as the 85-88 V6 Fiero engines, and the 85-86 distributor base looks more like the V6 distributor, where the 84 distributor has a 7-pin ignition module, and a heavier-duty base. Also the oil filter, on the Fiero engines they stick out towards the trunk, I've seen oddball VIN U engines where the filter sticks up off some kind of adapter.
I can only comment on the 88 model 2.5 and 2.8 motors. Both had manual transmissions if that makes a difference. The fitting on the end of the throttle cable that attaches to the throttle body linkage was different. When I replaced the 4 cylinder motor with the V6, the throttle cable was also changed. BTW, the anchor point for the cable sleeve under the dash center console was difficult to reach.

I would think all 4-cylinder throttle cables are the same. Transmission shouldn't matter. It was never connected to the tranny. Didn't all 4-cylinders have similar throttle bodies and therefore connect the same way?

In 87, both the throttle body and the ignition system were changed on the duke. So 87 and 88 are different than other years. And while the throttle cable doesn't attach directly to the transmission, there is a kickdown cable from the throttle to the transmission on auto cars. In any case, 87-88 4-cylinder throttle cables are different. And 84's have a unique cable.
