The car these nice 16 inch wheels will be going on will either be an '87 GT V6 I have or an '85 SE V6.
And I would like to know what rubbers will fit the wheel, but still retain the total overall height of what the stock wheels are.

Use this calculator for all your tire needs. Start with 205/50/16 which is a little over 24" tall. Put in the stock tire size and in the first line, select your new tire size and hit "compare" it will show you the differences.

Check each brand for their actual measurment. not all 225/45s are same diameter. Ive seen diameter vary as much as an inch for same tire size for example between two different brands. Its all in how they each measure their tire.

For what its worth,
I am running 225/50-16 front, and 245/50-16 on my '88 GT.
Both front and rear wheels are 16x7 wheels with a +48mm offset.
I have had no problems with rubbing or any clearance problems.
I hope this info proves helpful.
