What year of Grand Am can the brakes be used for an '87 Fiero? Is this a direct bolt on without having to use any adapters?

Also, any good off the shelf GM brake upgrades for the rear that includes an E. Brake?

Thanks for the help.

Think mine was a 88 GA but you will need to do some machine work for it to be right. You need to do a search .

Not a "bolt on" as such. It takes work to get things to fit.

A good writeup here: http://fierozone.tripod.com/realbrakes/

THE GRAND AM CALIPER ROTOR FROM 87 TO 89 IS A DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR THE 84 TO 87 REAR, BUT YOU LOOSE THE E BRAKE
i HAVE THIS SWAP ON MY 86 gt IT IS A BOLT ON ,AND THE BRAKE IMPROVEMENT IS DRAMATIC
i DID SPIN MY CAR AROUND IN A PANIC TEST ,BUT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WAS CATCHING BEFORE THE PASSENGER SIDE .STILL KEEP THIS IN MIND!!
i HAVE TRYED PANIC STOPS FROM 40 MPH & THE GRAND AM BRAKES ARE FANTASTIC i HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS SWAP,BUT BE CAREFULL WHEN IT RAINS AFTER ALONG DRY SPELL,THE COMBINATION OF OILY ROAD AND HEAVY RAIN COULD CAUSE A SPIN OUT
tHE IMPROVEMENT IN STOP POWER OVER RIDED ANY DANGER OF SPIN OUT.
UNLESS YOU ARE EXPERIENCED AS A MECHANIC ,, THE FIERO STORE SELLS THE GRAND AM UPGRADE FOR THE FRONT WITH ALL THE MACHINE WORK DONE,,THIS IS A BARGAIN IT COMES WITH A LOT OF SMALL PIECES YOU NEED
fOR FRONT UP GRADE USE TOP QUALITY PADS ON REAR & YOUR BRAKES WILL BE GREAT, YOU NEED EQUALIZATION
iF YOU ADD GRAND AM BRAKES TO JUST THE REAR ADD TOP QUALITY PADS TO THE FRONT
CARBOMET PADS FROM THE FIERO STORE ,EBS,HAWK WILL GIVE YOU THE EQUALIZATION YOU NEED TO KEEP FROM SPIN OUT..
I INSTALLED GRAND AM BRAKES ON THE REAR OF MY CAR TO CHECK THIS OUT FOR THE FIERO COMMUNITY,,,I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT PADS & COMBINATIONS FRONT AND REAR,
THE BEST EASY UPGRADE IS TO INSTALL WAGNER THERMOQUIETS ON THE FRONT!! NEXT IS TO INSTALL EBS,HAWK ,PORTERFIELD ON THE FRONT WHEN THESE PADS ARE INSTALLM, ALWAYS ROUGH UP THE ROTOR WITH 100 GRIT SAND PAPER ,NOT A BAD IDEA TO DO THIS WITH THERMOQUIETS ALSO..
THE NEXT TO TOP GRADE PAD WILL NOT IMPROVE FIERO BRAKES,,YOU MUST BUY THE TOP OF THE LINE,DO NOT CHEAP OUT HERE,THE FIERO BRAKES SUCK TO THE POIN OF BEING DANGEROUS
ROCK AUTO HAS THERMOQUIETS CHEAP
i HAVE BRAND NEW THERMOQUIETS FOR FRONT AND REAR ,BUT i AM SICK OF WORKING ON MY FIERO,A RECENT EXHAUST CHANGE TOOK A WEEK,, AND WILL CHECK THEM OUT IN SEPTEMBER.
THANKS TO AVENGADOR & OTHERS WHO DONATED BRAKE PADS

I just had my hubs milled down and I am waiting on the money to buy the bearings, seals and calipers. But I have the rears sitting on the axles.

Here is the rear disc fitted to the axle waiting the new Calipers

My front discs that were milled to hubs and the machinist charged me $70. He cut one a little funny cause it cracked while milling it. He had to add some material back to it and re-turn it down. But if you have a amchinist do it, just have them start the cutting from the rear of the disc and it will not crack.

the Hub slipped inside the Disc

And for the front hubs you will need a little longer lug botls to compensate for the extra 9mm of disc.
I'm looking forward to finishing mine and then adding the S10 Brake Booster for stronger braking.

You can use up to and including 1991 rotors.

When performing the 4 wheel Grand Am swap, I strongly recommend replacing the stock Fiero master cylinder with an early 90's S-10 Blazer master cylinder to restore proper brake pedal height and feel. With the stock M/C, the travel prior to brake engagement is long and kinda scary!

That is if you don't have the S10 booster swap. I have the stock Fiero MC and the S10 Booster and it works great with all four corners done.

As well, I have an ebrake
