Someone posted a photo once of how they modified an early V6 engine mount to fit on an 88 cradle. Anybody have a link? I have spent a couple of hours going threw 3.4 swap threads and can not find it again. I am in need of it to mount my 3.4 onto my 88 Duke cradle.

Or

Anybody know what mods are required to use an 87 engine mount on an 88 cradle? I did find on mention that the 88 cradel mount location was moved forward one inch since the forward engine 'shock' was not used on 88 V6 Fiero's

I haven't had much luck trying to locate an 88 engine mount for my 88 Coupe.

Just a tracing of an 88 mount would help me out .

Thanks
-Joe

Joe, you are correct that engine mount bracket is one inch roughly forward on the 88 cradle compared to the pre-88 cradle. I rememeber that picture too, but I can't find it either. I do have measurement drawings of each cradle and a picture of the 88 V6 engine mount if it helps any.

When I look at the 88 V6 mount, the mount holes on the bottom compared the vertical side mounting holes do look one inch forward compared to the 85-87 V6 bracket (which I have).

Just take the 85-87 mount and weld a small extension to it and then redrill the holes. This will not be perfect (as the new holed need to be within the edge of the extension), but it is close enough for most. I have done this modification a couple of times and may still have this bracket shown in the basement.

In this picture you can see the dogbone at a slight angle because the engine should be about 1/4" further to the PS, but works just fine as is.

fieroguru, that was the picture I have seen before. I just could not locate the thread it was in.

I just now purchased an 88 engine mount from Rolling Thunder. I have saved your photo for reference though. I am gonna make me a tracing of the mount so if anybody else ever needs one I will have it.

And thanks for adding your pictures and the information.
