I have a 88 4-cylinder coupe, plain jane, as a parts car. I'm about to send it to the junkyard but first I wanna know what you guys think I should take off of it before it goes. Any common faulty parts? What would you keep...???

Hey Esco105, do you have the bracket that goes from the front of the duke to the motor mount? I am swapping in an 88 cradle into my 84 and need to know if the bracket is different. If you had the bracket, perhaps you could take a pic or two. If you don't need it I'd buy it off you (if it is indeed different from other years). Thanks. You can PM me if you have it.

Have you thought of selling it on eBay? If the chassis is rust-free... it's worth a good amount of money (much more than $250) on eBay to kit car builders.

Aside from that, I stripped an 87 SE and put basically everything in buckets in my shed. I'm finding even still that I didn't save enough. I'm restoring my other 87 Fiero, and while in the end, I've been left with a LOT of parts in buckets that I won't be using, there's still a LOT of stuff that I wish I had kept.

If you ever get to the point where you're restoring another Fiero, you'll be SOOO pleased when you realize that you saved a part that may end up being better than what you had on your car originally. Even something as simple as say, the third brake light cover. The one on my car had a broken screw support. The one from my parts car was perfect, just needed cleaning.

Also... save ALL the hardware. Screws, bolts, nuts, you name it... save it all.

Keep everything you can actually take off. electrical harnesses. calipers, engine, trans, interior, front end parts.
then sell the frame as a rolling chassis with the suspension parts or literally strip in down to a bare frame, and part everything out (will take a while, but it's worth it)

I can't stress this enough. I'm continuously pulling parts from the "buckets" that I mentioned earlier becuase the part from my parts car is in better shape than what was on the car that I'm restoring. Just last night, I pulled the go-between filler insert piece from the drivers side "A" pillar to the dash panel. I somehow misplaced it from my own car (don't know why, or how... ) but there it was, the same piece from my parts car that was in a bucket of interior pieces. It even had the little miniature tree-clip that holds it to the back of the cowl panel, still on it (which I also needed).
