85 fiero GT starts than stops by FierokingGT

My 85 fiero GT starts then stops if i let off the gas and it drops down past the 2 on the rpm gauge. Any reasons why?

New car to you or a problem that just started?
Have you done any other work in the car?
You can keep it running if you keep the rpm's up with the gas peddle?
Possible the IAC motor is bad?

Really need more information on the history of the problem.
