ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR DUPLICATING THE HEAD LINER BACKING. I'M ALSO INTERESTED IN WHAT KIND OF MATERIALS FOR COVERING PEOPLE HAVE TRIED.

I took a Fiero Store ABS headliner for a non-sunroof car and cut it. See how here.

I took mine out and removed the material and fiberglassed it back together, when it cured I put a layer of resin over the entire thing before recovering it. Ended up pretty rigid and strong.

If it's too far gone, you can easily make a new one out of a regular non sunroof headliner, just put it up there and cut out the holes. wrap it in new material and its all good.
