After driving my 06 GTO for a few years, the fiero doesn't feel as comfortable. One thing that really bothers me is the left foot rest on the floor. Is there anyway to reduce it, or shorten it?

You can not remove it. You could (with a bit of work) probably reduce it some. I'm sure GM put some extra space there. Turn you front wheels and look at how much clearance you have. It would require some cutting and welding and maybe redoing the carpet some. A hump like this is common on all cars like ours for front wheel turning room. ------------------ Rodney Dickman

well i guess my question should be, is the bump a spot welded in over the uni-body frame so that it can be removed? Or is it actually the frame its self?

The answer is no. It is the space frame/floor behind the carpet.

If you were driving a manual, your left foot would be too busy for you to bother worrying about a hump on the floor.
I do drive a manual. On the freeway, long drives, i feel my knee cramping up. I slide the seat all the way back, but then if i need to shift my i cant get the peddle all the way to the floor. So then i move up, and i can get the peddle all the way to the floor, but then my left leg has to bend and lean on the door and that stupid bump... guess i could keep it on the peddle all the time but it seems there is just not enough room for my foot to comfortable sit on the clutch peddle at all times because of the bump on the left... it like when im puching the clutch i have to push it in to a hole. lol.
Is this because my frame was originally an auto?? I converted it to manual wheni put my engine in last summer.

I know exactly what you mean. I drove my car cross country two years ago and was trying to find a place to put my left foot too. We're currently installing an ls4 drivetrain so I'll get a chance to find a little more room for my left foot. These are great little mid engine hotrods and they're going to be around for a long time because of all the engine options I'm seeing these days, but that left front wheel is always going to intrude on us. Even with that being the case I've got big wide 20" tires up there.

No, every Fiero frame was built the same way in this area. On long trips I've found I can put my foot up under the clutch pedal to change the way my leg is flexed.
