I'm doing a 7730 swap into my 85 Fiero, I am also going to swap to a 4 speed, just not quite yet. the chip I have for it is a 4 speed chip though, so I will lose my TCC lockup. I figured I could just wire in a switch (maybe to a relay depending how much current it draws) that I manually trigger until I swap the 4 speed. I'm mainly only concerned about it for hwy driving, because that's where the mileage benefit comes from. anyone done something like this before? any wiring diagrams to go by?

Thanks-

Eric

The TCC signal wire goes directly to the ECM (no relay). It is a low power electrical item. The ECM grounds the TCC wire to engage it. Stock wiring has the power side of the TCC being fed through a brake pedal switch. This would be good to retain since pressing the brake will disengage the TCC automatically

I have mine hooked up like this with no safety relay operated by the 3rd gear solenoid and its worked fine. I did install a dash mounted LED across the ECM wire and the 12 volt supply from the brake switch to monitor its operation. I have used mine this way for about 10,000 miles with no problems. Keep in mind hooking it up this way the operation of the TCC is only controlled by speed, RPM's and vacuum I believe. You run the risk of stalling the engine at idle. =TCC lockup.

The safety relay is the internal 3rd gear solenoid on the TH125c. Im not familiar with that ECM but im sure the TCC lockup feed operates the same as the stock 2.8 ECM.
