okay so on my way home from school yesterday.. yes yesterday snow=saturday school.. a dump truck passed me doin about 70 in a 55 and blew sand and dust and salt and small rocks all over my windshield while going over a bridge.. and now i have hundreds of little chips all over my windshield.. and i can barely see when driving toward the sun.. is ther anyway to polish it out, will it need to be replaced? possibly wiht my parts car windshield?

do you think it would possibly be possible to take the one out of my 85gt parts car, the windshield seems flawless.. and put it my 86 gt?.. possibly have my local glass place do the removal and install since my dad knows the owner fairly well?... or just buy a new windshield from them and possibly get blue tinting at the top instead of brown if possible

Sure your could but I would guess they would tell you there is always the possibility that the replacement could break removing it. If it's original they do get brittle from age. Also the wholesale cost of the glass is only around $50-60 of replacement cost. The rest is labor and material.

Prob wont help with the sandpitting, but if a truck throws a rock up and cracks or breaks it. They are held responsible....IF.....you get all the info you can like a company name and ID number and licence number. All you have to do is supply that info and that proves that their vehicle was there and they have to pay. Their own records of where the truck was at the time hangs them.

Depends on insurance.... most times this type of thing is covered without needing proof of who caused damage. If your vision is blocked or hindered, then your insurance may cover. Give them a call.

While yes your collision coverage will pay for it....if you carry it... if your insurance pays, it affects your rates. Truck who caused it pays for it is much better.

Yes and no.... depending on the insurance, you can get 2 or 3 replacements over a period of time, without a rate increase.

In Fla, doesn't matter what kind of ins you have, even if No "Collision", they pay for a broken/ cracked/chipped windshield. I've had 2, & the price did NOT go up because of it. Check it out. costs Nothing "to ask".
