Im about to do 2 3800sc series 2 swaps both into 308 reps. both have the duke/4 speed. 1 3800 engine is in a fiero that was wrecked but worked before so my plan is to remove that engine and wiring and all other acc. to make the swap work. after learning from the first ill do the second. both engines i got are hooked to autos and id like to make them manuals, i was looking for answers using SEARCH so please dont respond with that answer. id like to know what flywheel/clutch can be used. and what mods are needed. i also have another fiero wrecked with a 350/caddy auto in it that later might go into a lambo rep ill have to build. already have that body and donar car and car that it will be put on. any help for the 3800 swaps will be great as i have a good grasp on the v8s. ill post pics of whats all going on asap as it might help.

you need the flywheel from a 1996 and up GM F-body (camaro, trans am) with a manual transmission.

I ask every parts store. and every auto wrecker in town where I live and none of them had it. they all told me that they never came with the 3.8. idiots i tell you.

i bought a 3.8 series 2 flywheel from rockauto. you will need to get it machined down for it to fit inside the bellhousing of the transmission.

West Coast Fieros is the only one I know of selling them now. If the 3800 Wiring was running on an auto, some wiring will need changed and a PCM flash to remove the auto trans control.

good point leaning towards keeping the auto and swapping the car to it now saves money and time. these are my first fieros ive done so i want to keep the first simple. swapping the car its self from manual to auto whats involved in this i have 2 manual fieros. and 3 autos. 1 3800sc auto 1 350 chevy/caddy auto and 1 stock fiero auto so i have parts.

To convert an auto to manual, you need the clutch pedal assembly, Master, hydraulic line, Slave, trans, mounts, Shifter, shift cables, and axles. Easier to swap the harness and ECM too otherwise needs some wiring changes.

well the engine is a auto the car is a manual. so my thoughts are to just swap the the car to a auto not the engine i have a ton of spare parts then its just removing the setup from the wrecked fiero to the 308 rep.

I am loosing track of what you're going to do now !!

If you are putting a 3800 in front of the Fiero Manual you will need a Camaro/Firebird 3800 flywheel cut down to .840" thickness and balance to match the 3800's Flexplate. You will want to get a good clutch and pressure plate, A "Fiero" clutch wont hold up, something like a Spec 3, McCleod, or Clutchnet. Search "3800 clutch" to read opinions and options.

You will need a Fiero clutch, specific to your transmission, rated to hold 300hp/tq or more. It will bolt right onto the camaro flywheel.
