Started rebuilding the hinges on my 87 coupe. Hinge pins and bushings are the normal replacement. The detent roller is another matter. Rodney sells a full replacement pin for $27.50. I always wondered how the pin and roller where put together. While researching I found that the roller and it's pin are separate parts that are pressed or driven into the overall pin. The roller and it's pin are available as replacement parts from GM. These prices are from http://rmsautoparts.com/ but are available from GM for a bit more. The roller is actually a little taller and pin a little longer so they might even last longer. Roller = GM # 20058035 ....list price is $9.50 each Pin = GM # 20262500 ....list price is $1.10 each
$28 shipping included would get you enough for two doors.
In keeping with the green recycle thing I thought I'd try to rebuild the existing roller instead. My roller was in good shape since they are harden metal. The nylon bushing is what wears out and then the pin wears. I have made a quick video of the rebuild I'm trying that cost me 18 cents so far. Sorry the audio is poor. I think the camera overdrove the audio making it sound.....well.....off..
I reused the old hinge pin bushing that where replaced and reduced the OD so that they would fit into the old roller. I then cut off the old hinge pin and sized down the end so it would fit into the roller pin. I glued the bushings into the roller with gorilla glue but JB weld might be better. I then glued the pin into the roller pin hole and cross drilled for a small roll pin in case the glue was not enough to hold the pin in. Will also make it easier to remove if there is a need to replace the roller in the event this does not last. I may also drill out the pin and add a small grease zerk to the top so a person could hit it with a small shot once in a while. Should make it last a long time doing that.
And now the video.

You can do it on car I think... Remove spring. Vice grip old bushing. Long Nose vice grip should work easier. Hit from bottom with hammer.
For comparison, GMpartsdirect.com has them for: 20058035 $6.59 (GM LIST: $10.95) 20262500 $0.77 (GM LIST: $1.32)
I won't order them unless I that other part... Shipping cost suck and min order is 10 on pins.
