I'm in the midst of swapping a 3.4L DOHC in my 87' Fiero, to mate the engine with my 5-speed getrag I need a different flywheel than what is provided with the engine. I can't use the one off my 2.8L stocker because it's a balanced flywheel for the swap I need an un-balanced flywheel. I understand the 88's came with un-balanced flywheel's, fierostore.com sells a steel one for 88's that retails for $260.00. But does somebody know if anyone make's an un-balanced aluminum flywheel?
I know that Fidanza makes one, however I'm skeptical. It lists the applications on their website and both the 84-87's and the 88's are noted, how can the same flywheel be used in the balanced 84-87 applications as the un-balanced 88' applications. Does anyone have any experience with their flywheel's? Or know if that'll work?
Thank's -Jason

Oh, and to save on confusion, 85-87 Fiero V6's are "Externally balanced" and 88's and later 60 degree V6's are "Internally balanced", and require a "Neutral balance" Flywheel or flex plate.
Fidanza AND Spec both list the same flywheel for either applications, and similar applications where only neutral balance flywheels are specified. So they are neutral balanced without the included weight. So you'll be fine with them.

My Fiero has a Fidanza aluminum flywheel. It does not have balance weights. The flywheel is spec'd for the 3.1 V6 on Summit Racing's website (part number FIZ-198261). It worked on my modded 2.8 (which had a 3.1 crankshaft), and is currently on my 3.4 V6.
