When I turn on my lights.
they pop up slowly, and are quite loud.
Is that normal for everyone? or is it just getting worn out and tired?

My mother has a Miata and when she turns on her lights. they pop up nice and quiet. and pop up quite fast.

is there a way to make them pop up faster and quieter?

Mine are still noisy, but when they got real slow, it was right before the motors went. One on a Monday, the next on the Friday of the same week.. very consistent in their failure.

the PO before i bought the car last month said he replaced one of the motors because it died on him.
i was just wondering if there was a module someone has made for them like what rodney did with the powerwindows.
or a swap from another car that used a better motor.

If you have the 84-86 headlight system, noisy and slow is normal. The best way to fix that is to upgrade to the 87-88 system. You'll need the motors, control module, and at least some of the newer wiring harness. Some folks replace the entire harness. I just spliced into my existing harness when I converted my 86 SE.

Gen 2 motors are much quieter than gen 1 motor but gen 2 is still not silent either....

Some of the problem with noise is the mounting. How it mounted can Add to noise, like sounding board. Think violin, etc.
