I'm replacing all vac lines and noticed a large hose running along the firewall going to the air cleaner housing. It's cut there and the hole in the air cleaner housing is blocked off with tape. The other end stops/cut by the valve cover. Just curious what it is or was. I looked at my 2 spare air cleaner housings and noticed it was taped off, then checked my 87GT project and same thing, cut off and taped up. Is this some sort of half ass recall modification?

Yep. That's part of the the original recall that moved the PCV line from the air cleaner to the duct just ahead of the TB. The hole in the air cleaner really doesn't need to be blocked off except that it will draw hot air from inside the engine bay if it's not. They left the old pipe on the car because it's welded to the much smaller tube that is still required for the EVAP sys if I recall correctly.

Bloozberry, shame on you... For a really bright guy here that's terrible advice!

That hole in the air filter can is on the filtered side of the assembly, which means if the hole is left unplugged, unfiltered air is being allowed into your TB, intake system, etc.

Ya Bloozberry! JK, wasn't planning on unplugging it. Probably come up with a better cap-off then some tape down the road though like weld it shut, then powder coat it. Just wondering what the cut hose was....got lots of them to chase down, actually more like dry rotted then cut. Know where to get a very good vacuum line schematic?

Should be on your deck lid.

Yup got that but it's a little vague. I found a color picture somebody made too but that is also a little less than what i was looking for. Just about every rubber line under the deck is so dry rotted that some simply end and i'm not sure where they go. I've got a good ide but would like a reference to double check my guesses. LIke the EGR solenoid and the cruse can, the hoses come out, go about an inch or two and that's it. I assume the EGR goes to the hard line on the firewall but the rest ??? If i'm going to replace a few, might as well change them all out.

Heh heh, please don't be too hard on yourself. You're one of the best sources of information at PFF, which I suppose made it all the more surprising when you goofed up on that one particular little bit of advice.
