Hey all-

To trouble shoot my non-working cruise control, I was going to replace my signal stalk. It's in bad shape anyway and could use a replacement for other reasons as well.

I've read about threading "the new cruise wire" using the "old cruise wire" but it doesn't really make sense to me - what exactly does this mean? How do I connect the new cruise wire to the old one? I've removed the stalk (just pulled it out) but its not immediately obvious how to disconnect and reconnect the wire.

Many thanks!

Hi there,

You can unplug the cruise wire from beneath the steering column. Tie a loooooong piece of dental floss, fishing line, or what-have-you (Stronger than normal string, though) to the end of the wire. Pull the cruise wire up through the steering column gently. This will take the string with the wire up through the steering column. Then, to install the new stalk's cruise wire, tie the upper end of the floss securely to the new cruise control wire. Gently pull the string at the bottom of the column until you get it to exit at the bottom.

This is how I did it, probably others have alternatives.

Before you utilize Smacktime's method just:
-unplug the existing stalk under the dash
-and plug the new turn signal stalk in see if it functions properly
-If it works properly then follow Snacktimes procedure.

If it still doesn't work the problem is elsewhere, you just saved yourself the hassle of fishing the new wire through the steering column only to find it wasn't the problem
