I sincerely hope you are talking about the washers being stainless not the bolts. Stainless bolts, even if you werer to use the stronger corrosion resistant A4-80's, have only 77% of the tensile strength of the stock 10.9 grade carbon steel bolts, and only 64% of their yield strength. Here are the specs fot the two most common alloys of stainless steel fasteners:
10.9 Carbon Steel tensile strength: 151,000 psi / yield strength: 136,000 psi
A2-70 (stainless 306) tensile strength: 102,000 psi / yield strength: 65,000 psi
A4-80 (stainless 316) tensile strength: 116,000 psi / yield strength: 87,000 psi
As for the size of the upper control arm pivot bolt for the '84 - '87's, here you go:
M12 X 1.75 X 250 (10.9)
If you have trouble finding some, I bought a box of 12 two years ago and only used two. They are allen-key pan heads and are grade 12.9. PM me if you are interested in a pair.
