What's the best approach to adding a turbo to a 3800? I see the post's here of those that have done great DIY builds but frankly that may be out of my capability as I have no welding fabrication skills. I know the Grand Prix crowd uses ZZP and Cartuning kits fairly regularly but my sense is they are not a bolt on in the Fiero chassis. Looking for help and recommendations on how I might cobble a DIY system together, or perhaps a hybrid of an existing kit and custom parts. Thanks in advance for the help.

What is your budget?

What is your hp goal?

How clean do you want it?

Do you still want the bottom section of the trunk?

If you rear mount the turbo, you can use the stock exhaust. About the only thing you need to weld is the flange for the turbo, wastegate tube and flange and exhast after the turbo. It shouldn't be too hard to find a welding shop or even an muffler man to do the welding for you.

There is quite a bit of fabrication to diy but if you take on one task at a time its not bad.

My budget is somewhat flexible, but would like to stay within $2k or less.

In terms of HP, not racing it just want street horsepower at the traffic light or when I punch it on the hiway.

My current install is factory clean and I'd like to maintain that as best as I can, but I realize I may have to adjust the look for power.

My trunk is already half cut, so if I can get away with a turbo mount there perhaps that is the way to go. Had not really considered a below trunk mount but perhaps that would be the way to go. Would love some examples of how that is done.

If you click on "turbo" in my sig there is somewhat of a build thread of my supercharged to turbo conversion. Everything cost around $900 after if was done. I got some good deals on used stuff.
