the "BRAKE" light on the dash in my car is stuck on. The emergency brake isn't on and the fluid level is fine. What else would cause it?

Unplug the wire from the proportioning valve. If the light goes out then you have a problem with your brakes. DON'T solve this problem by leaving the brake warning light disabled. You MUST fix the actual problem instead.

If that doesn't turn the light off then you need someone to pull the parking brake cable WHILE you release the parking brake.

Make sure the wire is plugged back on the proportioning valve!

What kind of problem are we talking about? I have to drive it tommorrow. I drove it today and it drove fine with great pedal feel. I did unplug the wire today and the light went out but it came back on after driving 5 miles or so. I'll do the emergency brake thing in the morning and see how it does.

If the light comes on because of that wire that indicates your brakes are not working correctly and you should not use the car before getting it fixed.

Light stayed on - Emergency Brake - Have someone pull the cable - use a pliers or vice grips if needed while you release the brake handle inside.

You can uplug the wire but it's hard to reach unless you remove the driver's seat.

I found a blue box under the console making a lot of noise and unplugged it. It got quite. I made sure my brake fluid was topped off.

I checked my e-brake cable. It is kinda OK, but rusty, for about three inches at the rear brakes, then nothing. I have no e-brake cables. I am working on the rear brakes now.
