260H is a good cam. A little lopey at idle from what I've heard. The 252 is very close/identical to the stock Fiero cam.

IMO, the 2.8 has plenty down low, but doesn't breathe well at all up high. I have no first hand experience with the 260, but I would think it will help with the higher rpm power without sacrificing too much down low. I had a 252 in my last engine, and I plan to go with a 260 in the next.

The 252 was a great cam in my engine, plenty of power, but power started peaking around 4500 and then it ran out of breath.

I have the H260 in my 3.4 and like it. As said just a slight lope at idle but not much.

Not to hijack but it is related. What is the part number of the 260 so I can find it on summit or another site?

The stock cam has a .394/.410 lift.
The Comp Cams camshafts are single profile camshafts. The single profile increases mid to high rpm power but doesn't increase low end power.
They have 3 cam choices for the 2.8L/3.1L/3.4L engines.
H240 = .390/.390
H252 = .425/.425
H264 = .440/.440

http://www.compperformanceg...y_Code=CHEV466Cam173

While they are decent cams, Unless you plan on changing the intake and porting the heads, They will not give you that much more of a performance increase.
Again they do noting for the low end.

A better choice for a camshaft on the 2.8L would be a dual profile camshaft. Crane and Crower make some decent cams from mild to wild.
The Crane H260 is a dual profile cam that will give you a decent boost in power. There H272 is excellent for power.
http://cranecams.com/

Crower has 4 different cams.

Their "Mileage Beast" is the same specs as the stock 2.8L cam
The "Baja Beast" is similar to the Edelbrock cam
The "Ultra-Performance Compu-Pro" is similar top the Crane H260
and the "Hi-Draulic Hauler" is similar to the Crane H272

http://www.crower.com/
Catalog: http://www.crower.com/catalog/camshafts.shtml (scroll down to around page 8 for the 60* V-6 cams)

Dual-Profile cams are much better suited for the smaller displacement V-6's especially the 60* V-6's as they give a better balance of low-mid-upper power and a wider power band.

To check prices and specs, Go to www.summitracing.com
Search for camshaft
Then on the left side: select "1986" for year, "Chevrolet" for make, and "2.8L/173" for engine.

The crane 260 has more total duration, but once you start comparing @.050" things start to change. But then again, crane has a big lift on the exhaust valve. But with the comp, you can run 1.6 rockers and get big numbers too (actually, I guess I"m not sure about the comp 260, I ran 1.6 with the 252). Not sure if the crane has enough piston clearance to run a higher ratio rocker, Oreif might know.

Duration
comp 260 duration: 260
crane 260 duration in: 260
crane 260 duration ex: 272

Duration @.050
comp 260 duration: 212
crane 260 duration in: 204
crane 260 duration ex: 216

Valve lift (both w/1.5 rocker)
comp: .425
crane in: .427
crane ex: .454

I've had the CompCam 260
was a good cam. well suited for stock or near stock intake/exhaust setups

perfectly fine for daily driver

be sure to hog out the exhaust manifold while you have the engine out too. free HPs waiting there, and will help the cam shine even more
