The dash on my 1984 Fiero has a brownish stain on it. At least I believe that it is a stain or dirt. I have tried various cleaners on it and it does not come off. Has anyone seen a similar stain/dirt on their dash? Here is a picture of the stain/dirt on the dash:

I use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for almost everything on the interior. They are cheap and can be bought pretty much anywhere. I used them to clean up my door handles that had turned black from dirty hands. I don't have any other ideas beyond that.

I tried Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and it did not work. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's actually the color coming off the dash. I have it starting on one of my cars and I've already tried the Magic Eraser, too. You can get the spray color from The Fiero Store to respray it.

I'm assuming the "handle" you're referring to is that which is an integral portion of the arm rest that screws onto each door panel of a Fiero (as opposed to the inside door handle, which is supposed to be black). If so, one thing I've found which has worked well for me when cleaning them of the black residue you've mentioned is "LEXOL Leather Cleaner." For that, I typically apply it with a bristle brush and then wipe off the residue with a paper towel.

In the case of the picture of the "stain" on your Fiero's dashboard which you provided us, it almost looks like someone installed a "saddle-colored" Fiero dashboard they had on hand, repainted it gray, and now the gray paint is starting to rub off. I don't know of a fix for a problem similar to that one --- where the color appears to be coming off --- other than repainting that section of the dash gray, as fierofool alluded to in his post immediately preceding this one.

In any case, please keep us posted on what you end up doing.

That's the same type stain I got on my first 85 and now my 87. The dash panels are dyed/painted over a black plastic dash. There may be a primer as a bonding agent that shows up as a brown stain, first. Look at the corners of the knee-knockers that have been damaged and you can see the black underneath. About the only way to salvage it is to clean it very well and then respray it. It's not that difficult if you remove the instrument pod, you can get the whole thing.

ThaDriver got Sherwin Williams to formulate a spray that much better replicates the color and finish than the FieroStore colors that I've seen other apply. Sherwin Williams will also package it in an aerosol can for you. Maybe you can PM him and get him to sell some to you. It would be cheaper than having it mixed on your own, since he's already paid for the formulation.

I had the same problem on my dash and I ended up re-spraying it with a can from the FieroStore. I'm pretty sure the can was marked "Sherwin Williams" on it too. I'm having some problems with it easily rubbing off in spots though, so be sure your prep and prime work is top-notch.

I sent an email to the Fiero Store and asked about the paint. They responded that they believed that the color was light gray interior paint, part # 50941. Has anyone used this color? Does it match your original color? Thanks.
