Hey all, im getting fed up with my TH125, it revs high on the highway, it is full of problems, it has to go! I do not want to spend tons of money, and I want to do a quick swap of the transmission (hopefully without dropping the cradle) and I am wondering, how hard it really is to swap the 125 with a 440... Can all the stock mounts be used? axles I need? What does this all entail? Also, is it worth the time and money? I already found one 440 at a local scapyard for 175 bucks.

Basically, answer this please:
How hard is the swap?
How long will it take?
Custom fabricated parts?
Axles?
TV Cable Usage? (mine on the 125 is broken where it goes into the trans, can I use the one off of the donor vehicle? or use the 125's after trying to fix it?)
Final Drive & speedo calibration?

The one I found is out of a 1992 Chevy Lumina...

Quick answer. It will bolt up. Use the 4T60 mounts (redrill them to fit the Fiero cradle mount positions) , use new axles. (I believe that Pontiac 6000 axles that used this trans are a direct fit) . reverse and modify the shift arm and run a vacuum hose for the modulator.

Plan on dropping the cradle if you want to do it the easiest way. There is just no better way to work on them.
