For offset you are backwards. A higher offset (ex -50mm) will be "pulled" under the car more than say a -30mm offset.
Spacers are a touchy subject with a lot of people. You aren't putting more strain on the bearings if you do it right. If you can only find a wheel you like with a -50mm offset, but need a -30mm, you could run a 20mm hub-centric spacer (I don't recommend past 8mm without the spacers with new studs in them) without putting much added strain on axles or bearings.
Now if you run a -30mm offset wheel, with a 20mm spacer, then you are stressing the bearings more, but you likely would do the same thing with a ~10mm offset wheel.
You'll likely need to find something custom, or spacers to achieve the flush look you are looking for. Diamond Racing wheels makes about anything, and are probably the cheapest custom wheel you can get.
