i have this car strip'd down to the frame, my goal is to make sure the car never rust. its in amazing shape. so my question is whats the best thing to use to paint under the car and in the engine bay.... i was going to use rocker guard and rocker coating... a friend of mine said the rocker guard would melt off in the engine bay , due to the heat of the engine when im running it on the track.

would it melt off????

It's an 87 Renault, you can rebuild it out of aluminum and plastic and it will still rust How much does the bare frame weigh? I'd just drag it too a coater and have it powder coated. You could also try POR-15, but I have had mixed results with it. Or some Rhino Liner, again I have had mixed results with it. And neither where permanent, after a few years it had started to bubble again and flake off.

I doubt it would melt off. It gets hot under there. Just not that hot, unless there are other issues, but then I would worry about burning wires and hoses. And I love finding rust free cars, found a Lancia Monte Carlo and a Fiat X1/9 both perfect shape, in Wisconsin of all places... friend bought them out from under me I wanted to do a turbo ecotec in that X1/9... and put the Lancia in my living room.
