does anyone have the shift light working off the obdii ecm? is it more fuel economy related or peformance? could it be both? light up green for fuel economy, light up red for performance.

It is supposed to be economy, but it doesnt really work from when I have tried it on my 85 2.5.

The OBD2 doesnt have the output for it since they were designed for an auto trans. I hooked up my shift light to the performance shift mode on my 4T65E.

hmm... but im going getrag. i guess for performance wise, i can get one of those LED shiftlights and wire it into the existing shift light socket. wonder if i can find a fuel economy shift light. have that light up green in the shift light socket and have the gauges go white when i need to shift up for performance. and rpm trigger is all i need for the performance. but for the fuel economy shift light it would be a bit more involved. going off of the data line and from there

Not totally sure, but I think it uses a reading from the MAP and Tach to figure out when to shift. Once you stop pulling vacuum showing no load on the engine it lights up. or something like that ?

Could always get a wife and she could tell you what to do. They are good at that.
