Hey Dana, I'm going to save you a boatload of cash with this little tip.
Your 87 2.5 torque strut mount is an Anchor part # 2761 available at www.rockauto.com for about $11 bucks or your local auto parts store, whichever you prefer.
See, I get a little green by saving you alot of green, I like how that works.

Trans mount is likely fine. Engine mount is likely broke. Use Dea/Motor Mount, Part Number: A2548 from autozone Do Not Hydraulic ones. See cave, engine mount. Most list the fluid fill one.

Jetman,
Do Not use Anchor or any other brand with rubber bushing in 86(.5?) - 88 L4 with mono mount auto trans. You get the New style bone. Been there. Done that. It will cause problem... See cave. Torque strut in L4 engine.
If you can find the old strut, cheapest is polly bushings. I did that on my car.

YOu best bet you you plan on keeping the car is.....Change out the mono setup with the front/rear trans mounts used on the V6s. Then you will not be wearing out dogbones every year and having to replace them. I have a set of the V-6 trans mounted if you are interested in doing the swap. Also I don't think I have seen the older style dogbone avaliable to use with the mono style mounts anywhere...

Strut... not factory. Use any old strut from junk yard etc and polly bushings.
Older, 84-85 L4 engine use two mount trans too.
Yes, best option......

Rodney sells great products, I've purchased many of his items for my Fiero and will continue to do so. All respect too for theogre, your command of knowledge of the Fiero is irrefutable, your help keeps my little Fiero's up and running. With that said, for my money, I purchased Anchor for my 88's, I don't have any difficulties but I am aware that it may occurr but the original bones went 60K and 20 years. In no means am I saying I am right, maybe sometime I'll pick up 86 or older bone and toss some poly in it and see if there is a difference but for now, I'm totally happy with my $11 dollar bones. Not a flame, just saying, peace.

Wish we had a autozone here but Parts places where i live in Canada are few and far between, they would usually have to order it in.I would have to pay freight and a big retail price. Thanks for the reply,

is it a big job to change motor mounts? i have not checked to see if they are good or not.Can i just install new dog bone, and do engine mounts later? Thanks
engine mount is relatively easy. swap mono to dual mount trans is a bit harder.
jet,
I broke 3 exhaust manifold, and hit TBI to make it loose (almost broke intake man), using Anchor parts. Since polly, no more exhaust man, TBI stays tight, tho I do get some more vibration in drive... New design torque strut suck. Use old kind is fine even w/o polly.
New design look fine while resting but moving and mono trans mount... can move whole engine 2+ inches and not a nice move... New design allows a Hard hit even time R to D (and D to R) or accel-deccel switch.
