In a separate thread, i'm having problems with my car. Runs like crap. I am suspicious of the fuel injectors (older Bosch style) and have a spare set of Multec injectors from a 1989 Beretta, 2.8 V6. Will the two interchange? Can i swap single injectors, or should I swap them all at once, or should I not swap them at all?

Mine's a 86 GT. Thanks!

Are there any advantages or disadvantages of the Multec injectors? Better cold performance, etc?

I believe that the Multecs are stock and the Bosch you have must have been swaped out some time in the past. Curious as to what the psi rating is on the Bosch injectors you have!

I was under the impression the Bosch injectors were stock on 85-86 V6 models and the Multecs came after.

The fuel injector guy said the Boschs are durable but do not atomize the fuel well when cold - just wanted a second (or third) opinion. THanks all

Just to follow up, the Multecs perform just like the stock Bosch units and fit with no problems.

Would highly recommend getting some Multecs from the salvage yard instead of buying new injectors...Each Multec is about $4, can bring a multimeter to check for coil shorts (the most common failure mode for the Multec) before buying. All the 2.8/3.1 Multi-port engines with batch fire had these Multecs.

..The stock injectors are long life ,,The biggest problem is non use where they just sit in the engine..normally just running a tank of 91octane chevron or texaco gas will clean the injectors..

go to Cruizin performance or linder tech sites for a quick tutorial on injectors that will help you with all your cars

Having your injectors cleaned and matched by one of the below companies is advantageous and will give better performance ..
..The stock Fiero injectors are held in low esteem for performance but they are reliable.
..if your car is not a daily driver ,,when you drive it a long distance, fill the tank with a gas that has superior fuel system cleaner like chevron,
Never soak an injector ,it is electrical
Cruizin performance........mich
Fuelinjectorconnection.......Georgia
witchhunters........Wash stae
RC engineering......calif
Linder tech.com........Indiana
injectorrehab.com ............N.J.
..These are sites that have at least 3 good reports & no bad from Forum users
..The price of cleaning injectors went up a lot this year still a bargain..

Depends on the yard, too, local place wanted $20 per injector

The Bosch (pintle-type) injectors came stock in all year V6 Fieros. Including any number of 88s that I've been into.
(Although I have seen injectors that looked like the Tomco pieces that the Fiero Store sells, that came out of an engine that the owner swore was "virgin".)

Having said all that... Some people have been successful, running Multec injectors, others have not.
If you install them, and don't have any problems, you're good to go.
If it hunts really badly at idle, the Multecs will be the reason why.

Install them as a set. Not just single units.
