I just bought and installed the Alpine CDE-103BT and after about a week I start getting the DC Error message that tells me it is a speaker or speaker wire problem.
The only problem with that is that it only gives the error randomly, for example I am driving along and it goes in to DC Error mode then after a while it comes back on. So I wait until the error code is on and the car is in the garage so it will stay in error mode while I try and find the problem. I then start looking for the problem I turn the key on and the error code was showing on the unit then before I could touch anything the unit stops giving the code and starts to play the CD that was in it, so since it stopped giving the error code I am wondering how to find out where the problem is. Everything looks good all new wires new speakers and I could find no bare wires; everything is soldered and has heat shrink tube on all the connections. Does anyone know how to find the problem without the error code being on? Even if the error code is on how do I know when I have found the problem? How do I trouble shoot this?
First I tried a different head unit and it did the same thing so I have ruled out the head unit as the problem. Then I took out the head unit and inspected all the wires and reinstalled the unit and it still has a problem.

This is not a stock Fiero and the stereo is not in the stock location I included a couple of pictures so you can see the dash and door set up. Everything was wired in new less than two years ago so a wire could have rubbed through as the car does vibrate a lot with the stiff suspension. The speakers in the doors are component speakers and the one in the pillars next to the head rests are regular coaxial speakers. I am not sure if I am describing everything correctly if not please let me know I am just learning this stuff.

Thanks,
Christine

I can't see any of the pictures at that link.

But, how is the rubber for the wiring between the door jamb and the door? Maybe a wire or two is being rubbed there? Also, even if a connection is soldered and shrink-wrapped, there could have been some air in the solder joint and it could be breaking loose. Though, that is not a very likely scenario. Not sure how to find which wires are causing your problems, beyond checking every single connection in the harness with a test light and multimeter.

Well we just got done checking everything from the unit to the doors and did not find anything that looked like a problem. We checked everything with multi-meter and everything checked out good, now the unit is not seeing a problem and not going into CD error shutdown, no matter what we do we cannot get it to go into error mode. We tried moving the wires around unplugging the speakers and plugging them back in and still no error. I guess it only wants to stop working when I am driving the car or when I need to go somewhere I get in the car and turn it on and no stereo then I go somewhere and come back out and the stereo works again. This is driving me crazy.

The only thing I can think of that might be causing it is that the connections on the speakers or the magnet are too close to the metal in the door causing this error. I am going to cover all the metal in the door and insulate the connectors better before I put the speakers back in just in case. The component part is under the door handle and it is well insulated and wires are all protected.
Here are some pictures of the doors set up.

Very stupid question here. Are you running rear speakers?

Yes the rear speakers are in the stock pillar location, I redid all the wiring to them when we rebuilt the car about 2 years ago. I am going to check them as a last resort. With all the modifications to the interior I do not want to take it apart because it will take a day or so and I will likely have to fix the plastic trim as it breaks in some way every time I take it out.
