This is a good question, I have this problem on my car too.. It is in the middle area on both sides of the hood ornament. It just seems to sag down a little. I was thinking that it might be possible to put something underneath it after I get it painted to support it. Other than that I was thinking I might build it up with something and then sand it flush.... I would love to hear what the old pros are doing for this problem on here.... peace

The bumpers have sagged and stretched over the years. In theory you could add something to the underside of the cover on the honeycomb support to bring the cover back into alignment but I have not seen it done yet where it looks proper. The only successful fix that I have seen is to have the cover ' rebuilt '. I've had many covers sent out to Keystone Automotive for stripping and repair and during their process the sagging is removed when they reform the cover. When the cover comes back from them it is in brand new condition in primer and ready to scuff and paint. I have yet to see any other method work properly.

I had the same problem but didn't realize it. I was not sure what a perfect nose was suppose to look like.
Heres the story..

A few years ago I backed my Jeep over the nose of my Fiero because I forgot it was behind me. Grand Cherokee skid plate went right up and over the nose leaving 2 big scuff marks. This was less than a year after a new paint job. $700 damage!!

Took it back to the body shop and had them fix it up. While it was there They called and ask me if the nose was dipped on both sides before the damage. I said I never noticed. They said they would try heat, etc.....

When I picked it up they said one of their body guys used heat and glued some styro-foam on the underside of the nose and I must say I never saw such a nice rounded nose before. I then realized what a perfect nose is suppose to look like.

I never even looked under there untill a few weeks ago when changing the steering rack and saw a 4" square of styro-foam at the center of the nose. I guess the heat did the rest of it.

Put a bra on and you won't have to worry about sagging.

I had that problem with 2 of them. I removed the cover, placed folded up cardboard abour 6"X8" peices( taped to the eggcrate) where the cover was sagging, put the cover back on, & put the car out in the summer sun (FLA). You May have to R&R the cover a few times to get the "thickness" of the cardboard right. the cover softened up & went back in shape. you would never know !

There are some great tricks here! I have this problem too which I didn't notice before I painted it. Once it was painted the sagging really stood out. I will definitely be doing this project sometime in the future. When I do, I think I'll try the cardboard method described above.

I fixed mine by taking off the nose and using backpacking sleeping pad (ensolite pad). Its nice because its foam and retains is shape and is water proof.

Cut it to the shape of your nose with the outside curved ends. Place it on top of the plastic bumper support material. Replace the nose and you'll see it come back in alignment as it pushes up on your aero nose. If yours is really bad a heat gun helps. Also, if your plastic support is barely hanging on, get some bailing wire and reattach it to the bumper as it needs to be attached to support the foam that pushes up on your nose.

Hope that helps.

Epoxy pieces of wood or construction styrofoam to the inside. Dont use any kind of heat....youll end up with a bigger mess than you have.

I am in the process of swapping my coupe nose for a GT nose. one of the things I am planning on doing is using "Great Stuff" expanding foam behind the nose to prevent this very thing from happening.

thanks for the replies. i was out of town and this is the first time i was albe to get back to the forum. i'm getting ready to paint the car, so i'll pull the bumper cover off and try one or more of the suggestions. i think i'll try to epoxy a light weight support under the sag as this would be more permanemt solution. but again, thanks to those who have responed to my question

be very careful using "great stuuff", I've seen it (when used in a house) break windows, overexpand & "swell walls", It IS indeed Geat Stuff, but be carefull because it's expanding capability is powerful, don't end up balloning the front end. also, be carefull what you "get it on", very messy "gooey" to remove.
