Most likely something you did. Have you made any modifications?
What year, what engine?
Maybe a bad alternator. The light is used as an 'excite' circuit on some years/engines. A burned out light kills the alternator. I would think a bad alternator could make the light light when it shouldn't

the goon who had the car before me was trying to install a car alarm. It's an 86 GT. When i bought it the engine was blown up. So i've got a brand new 2.8L V6 (auto) and it has a turbo, but i doubt that's messing with my wiring issue. I still haven't gotten the thing to turn over, and i'm not so sure i've fixed that glowing wire. we're about to find out, im getting my dad to take a look at it. He's an old school GM mechanic, hopefully he'll know something.

we went through the wiring diagram, and for some reason, i guess the guy who put the car alarm system on it, ran the A2 ground wire out with the fusible link wires that connect to the post that connects to the + cable. anywho, i have to make sure that wire didn't burn into another wire in the harness, then i'm good to go.
